Increase in Earth's temperature and melting of glaciers at a faster rate, thereby increasing sea level due to global warming, excessive drought, untimely storms, uncontrolled forest fires, thus, reducing all types of flora and fauna into ashes and many other unusual things are happening but who cares? We don't care but Mother Nature has always alerted us from some severe disaster in the near future.
We are all locked down in our homes due to the Coronavirus. But the truth is that we don't have the courage to roam outside freely or go and meet our close ones as we used to did. Is this becoming our future? Well, the coming days will only answer this question.
The term "lock down" may sound new to us but in fact, our country has gone through this situation earlier before the COVID-19 pandemic. Then it was not known as lock down. In September 1896, when, then fatal infection, Plague started to spread like wild fire in Mumbai, British East India Company put forward certain measures in the movement of the local masses. Railways and Caravans were put to a halt, medical camps were established everywhere. Now "Containment Zones", then it was known as "Cordon Sanitaire", were formed. The same measures were also taken during the 1920s Cholera infection.
Even in Ayurveda, there is mention of such measures. In this case it is for self-enlightenment to lead a better life by detaching oneself from all the temptations. Moreover, when there is both inner and outer cleanliness, it approaches godliness.
While we are postponing, life speeds by. During this period, Nature is gradually healing herself. The air has never been so clean, the rivers are no longer carrying wastes, aquatic animals are not being killed and glimpses of distant mountain ranges can be enjoyed due to no smog.
But we are unable to notice these changes because we are too busy in cursing the 'lock down'. I think that, today 'lock down' is the most hated word. "When the soul awakes, all sorrow vanishes". This lock down may not prove be a good experience for us but Mother Nature has found her healing time in this break.
After all, sometimes it is not enough to do the best; we must do what is required. If the inside is clean, the outside is bound to be so. Remember, we didn't lose the game. What seems impossible is not always really so. Just try to notice the little happy things in life because you know, light can be found in the darkest of times but it will always depend on your perspective. So enjoy what you have, instead, regretting what you had.
P.S.: I personally think that after everything becomes normal, we should all maintain lock down for at least 7 days a year, to give time to our Mother Nature to heal herself.
